Panel Discussion: The Gendered Pandemic

Over the past twenty years, women have struggled to make significant progress in terms of gender equity, the division of caregiving and household labor, and financial power. The pandemic has not only exacerbated the inequities that already existed, but it’s also forced us to face all the progress we’ve never made. This panel will explore the current reality, the long-term implications, and where we need to focus to close some of these gender gaps.

Panelists:

Ulrike Malmendier, Professor of Economics at University of California, Berkeley

Meral Guzel, Partnership Manager of Women’s Entrepreneurship Accelerator at UN Women

Lorna Fitzgerald, VP of Research & Insights at Capital Group

Moderated by Kristin Wong, Journalist and Writer at Hidden Brain Media

Claudia Sahm, Economist and Opinion Contributor at Bloomberg and The New York Times

Mia Birdsong, Senior Fellow at Economic Security Project and Host of ‘More Than Enough’ Podcast
